Goober Grabber Headwear
About Your Maker
Avery Miller, Proprietor
Hello! I’m Avery Miller — hat maker, historical enthusiast, Army Veteran, and proud owner of Goober Grabber Headwear.
For over a decade, I’ve been handcrafting historically inspired headwear, garments, and equipment that span from the 18th century through the post-Civil War era, and even into modern times. As a one-person operation, every piece I create is made with careful attention to detail, research, and a deep respect for the past.
The name Goober Grabber Headwear pays tribute to my home state of Georgia. During the war, Georgia soldiers earned the nickname “Goober Grabbers,” a nod to the state’s rich history of peanut farming. It felt only fitting to honor that legacy and bring a bit of Southern heritage into the heart of my business.
Now based in the beautiful state of Virginia, I balance life as a stay-at-home dad homeschooling my daughter, while continuing to craft meaningful, quality pieces for history buffs, reenactors, and collectors alike. When I’m not in the workshop, you’ll find me exploring Virginia’s historic trails and soaking in its natural beauty.
At Goober Grabber Headwear, this isn’t just a business — it’s a mission to help keep our nation’s history alive and accessible through authentic craftsmanship and storytelling. Thank you for supporting a veteran-owned, family-run business with a passion for the past.
When not in my shop or on an adventure with my daughter, you can find me at a living history, reenactment, collector show, or in museums across the county.
